HEAVY METAL SUMMER SCHOOL 2016
13-17 June 2016, Mol (BELGIUM)
26-30 June 2016, Charlotte, USA (registration: www.asme.org/events/icone).
The International Conference on Nuclear Engineering (ICONE) is a global conference on nuclear reactor technology. This conference is interesting for anyone who wants to stay technically up-t-date and on top of industry trends and developments.
SESAME Work meeting on Verification & Validation and Uncertainty Quantification
5-6 July 2016, KTH, Stockholm, Sweden (Participation by invitation only).
SESAME Work meeting on Best Practice Guidelines for Liquid Metal Fast Reactor CFD
7-8 July 2016, KTH, Stockholm, Sweden (Participation by invitation only).
Frédéric Joliot and Otto Hahn Summerschool
24 August – 2 September, CEA, Aix-en-Provence, France (registration: www.fjohss.eu).
The FJOH-2016 objective is to help the school participants broaden their knowledge of LMFR core and fuel physics, in relation to plant design, optimization and safety studies. The various lectures will therefore show how to “connect the science to the design” in a modern simulation-based interdisciplinary approach of such complex technological systems. Illustrations will be provided from innovative sodium-cooled and lead-cooled demonstrators, such as ASTRID, ALFRED, and MYRRHA, which have already undergone preliminary engineering design and safety studies. Including a lecture on thermal hydraulics ‘state-of-the-art and beyond’ from SESAME expert: Ferry Roelofs (NRG).
OECD/NEA & IAEA Workshop CFD4NRS-6
13-15 September, MIT, Boston, USA (registration: www.oecd-nea.org/nsd/csni/cfd).
The CFD4NRS series intend to offer a forum whereby numerical analysts and experimentalists can exchange information in the application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Computational Multi-Fluid Dynamics (CMFD) to Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) safety and future design issues. The workshop will embody both state-of-the-art (single-phase and multi-phase) CFD applications and new experimental data explicitly designed for CFD validation. SESAME US partner Dave Pointer (ORNL) is in the organizing committee while SESAME experts Arnoldo Badillo (PSI), Afaque Shams (NRG), Ulrich Bieder (CEA), and Elia Merzari (ANL) take part in the Scientific Committee.

In October 2016, the 11th International Topical Meeting on Nuclear Reactor Thermal-Hydraulics, Operations and Safety (NUTHOS-11) will take place in Gyeongju, Republic of Korea. NUTHOS keeps you abreast of the most updated information in the advancement of science and technology in nuclear thermal hydraulics, operations and safety. NUTHOS aims at addressing key outstanding issues of future technical needs and direction of research to meet challenges in these areas. Several SESAME experts participate in the Technical Program Committee of the NUTHOS conference.
European Nuclear Conference (ENC)
9-13 October 2016, Warsaw, Poland (registration: www.enc2016.org).
ENC 2016 provides a platform for the nuclear science community to share their experience and to learn about the latest developments going on in nuclear research and their practical applications. It will furthermore exploit synergy among scientists, industry representatives, policy-makers and citizens on wider societal issues that impact upon how the nuclear science community carries out its work. An abstract on the SESAME project has been submitted to the ENC.
